Accessibility
This site should work for everyone, including people who use a screen reader, navigate by keyboard, enlarge the page, or turn off animation. This statement describes what has been done toward that, where the site still falls short, and how to tell me if something is in your way.
The standard it aims for
The goal is to meet the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.1, Level AA (opens in new tab). That is the benchmark most commonly used to judge whether a website meets the Americans with Disabilities Act. The site is currently believed to be substantially in line with that standard, with the known exceptions listed below.
What has been done
- Structure. Every page uses real headings in order, a single main landmark, and a “Skip to content” link so keyboard and screen-reader users can jump past the navigation.
- Keyboard. All links, buttons, form fields, and the interactive practice tools can be operated without a mouse, and the element with keyboard focus always shows a visible outline.
- Forms. Every field in the practice tools has a label a screen reader can announce, including the fields that appear as you go.
- Contrast. Text and interface colours are set to meet the 4.5:1 contrast ratio for normal text.
- Links. Links within a paragraph are underlined, not shown by colour alone, and a link that opens in a new tab says so.
- Motion. The small transitions in the step-by-step tools are switched off automatically if your device is set to reduce motion.
- Zoom and reflow. The layout is responsive and remains usable when the page is enlarged to 200 percent or viewed on a narrow screen.
- Images. Meaningful images have text alternatives; purely decorative ones are hidden from assistive technology.
Known limitations
- The scheduling tool. Booking a call opens NeetoCal, a separate third-party service with its own interface and its own accessibility conformance, which is outside my control. If NeetoCal is difficult for you to use, email me instead at hello@theunheldquestion.com and we will find a time that way.
- No formal audit yet. The site has been checked against WCAG 2.1 AA by self-assessment and automated testing, and with keyboard navigation. It has not yet had an independent third-party audit or a full test pass with every major screen reader. Issues may remain.
- Downloadable documents. The overview PDF offered on the home page has not been separately checked for accessibility. Ask by email and I will send the same content in another format.
If something is in your way
Please tell me. Email hello@theunheldquestion.com with the page address, what you were trying to do, and the browser or assistive technology you were using if you know it. I aim to reply within five working days, and to fix confirmed barriers as quickly as I reasonably can. If you need the information on a particular page in a different format in the meantime, ask and I will send it.
How this was assessed
This statement is based on a self-evaluation of theunheldquestion.com against WCAG 2.1 Level AA, using a combination of automated tools and manual keyboard testing. It was last reviewed on 5 September 2026 and will be reviewed again when the site changes materially, and otherwise at least once a year.
