The question that would move you forward is usually one you already know. It's just not been said, not even to yourself. Fifteen minutes, on your own, to find it and decide what to do with it.
Name it
What are you stuck on?
One or two sentences. Get it out of your head without trying to make it sound reasonable.
Peer frame
What would you tell someone else?
If a peer described this exact situation to you, what would you tell them? Write it to them, not to yourself.
The barrier
Is something stopping you from following that advice here?
Information, permission, confidence, or just a decision to make. Name it if there is one.
What you told them
—
Weigh the wait
If you don't move forward now, what is the cost?
Think about how long it would actually take to clear that barrier that sits in front of you, and what the wait costs, in the situation itself or in how you look for sitting on it.
The task
Who or what gets you there?
Name the person, resource, or piece of information, and when you'll have it.
Move forward
Can you undo this later?
If it turns out wrong, how hard is it to walk back?
Name the risk
What would you say is the risk?
Not to justify it. Just to be honest about what you're accepting by moving without it and let you plan for that.
